Antoine Winfield Added to Injury Report on Friday
Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Antoine Winfield Jr. was added to the injury report on Friday with a foot injury. Winfield is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers.
Winfield has been a key piece of the Buccaneers' defense this season, starting all 16 games and recording 88 tackles, three interceptions, and 11 pass breakups. He is one of the team's best coverage defenders and his absence would be a big blow to the secondary.
If Winfield is unable to play, the Buccaneers could turn to Carlton Davis or Jamel Dean to start opposite Sean Murphy-Bunting. Davis has started 10 games this season and has recorded 55 tackles and five pass breakups. Dean has started three games and has recorded 21 tackles and two pass breakups.
The Buccaneers are hoping that Winfield will be able to play on Sunday, but they will have to prepare for the possibility of him being out. If he is unable to play, the team will need to find a way to replace his production in the secondary.
