Tiafoe Beats Brooksby, Reaches Tokyo Semifinals

Frances Tiafoe reached the semifinals of the ATP Tokyo Open on Friday with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Jenson Brooksby.

The fifth-seeded American Tiafoe needed just 79 minutes to defeat Brooksby, who was playing in his first ATP quarterfinal.

Tiafoe will face Miomir Kecmanovic in the semifinals on Saturday after the Serbian upset second-seeded Casper Ruud 6-3, 6-4.

Andrey Rublev continued his impressive form in Tokyo by beating Ruud 6-3, 6-4 to reach the semifinals.

Rublev, the third seed, broke Ruud's serve twice in each set to secure the victory in one hour and 27 minutes.

The Russian will face eighth-seeded Hubert Hurkacz in the semifinals, who advanced with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Denis Shapovalov.

In other quarterfinal action, seventh-seeded Taylor Fritz defeated eighth-seeded Alexander Zverev 6-1, 6-4.

Fritz will face top-seeded Nick Kyrgios in the semifinals after the Australian beat fourth-seeded Cameron Norrie 6-3, 6-4.

With some of the world's top players in action, the ATP Tokyo Open is shaping up to be an exciting tournament.

Tiafoe, Rublev, Kyrgios, and Fritz are all former ATP champions and will be looking to add another title to their resumes this week.
