Australia win tight first ODI against Pakistan
Rauf's super spell in vain as Warner, Smith star
Cameron Green's all-round effort sees visitors home in Lahore
Australia have taken a 1-0 lead in their three-match ODI series against Pakistan with a thrilling three-wicket victory in Lahore on Tuesday.
Chasing Pakistan's total of 313-7, Australia were indebted to half-centuries from David Warner (56) and Steve Smith (59) and a crucial unbeaten 40 from Cameron Green.
Haris Rauf was the pick of the Pakistan bowlers, taking 4-63, including the wickets of Warner and Smith, but his efforts were ultimately in vain.
Australia's victory was set up by a solid bowling performance, with Mitchell Starc (2-40) and Pat Cummins (2-59) leading the way.
With the series now level at 1-1, the two teams will face off in the deciding match in Lahore on Friday.
Australia's victory was a hard-fought one, with the match going down to the wire.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Pakistan got off to a solid start thanks to a half-century from Imam-ul-Haq (56).
However, Australia's bowlers fought back, with Starc and Cummins taking wickets at regular intervals.
In the end, it was Rauf who gave Pakistan a chance of victory, with his four wickets bringing the hosts back into the game.
But Green's unbeaten 40 proved to be the difference, with the all-rounder guiding Australia home with just two balls to spare.
The victory will be a boost for Australia, who are looking to build on their recent success in the Test series against Pakistan.
For Pakistan, it was a disappointing result, but they will have a chance to level the series in the second ODI on Friday.
