Chicago Bears Activate Right Tackle from Injured Reserve

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Chicago Bears today announced that they have activated tackle Larry Borom from injured reserve and elevated defensive tackle Jake Curhan and wide receiver/kick returner Reddy Steward to the active roster from the practice squad for Sunday's game against the New York Giants.

Borom, a second-year player out of Missouri, suffered an ankle injury in the Bears' Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers and has been on injured reserve since September 10th. He started 15 games at right tackle for the Bears as a rookie last season and is expected to reclaim his starting role upon his return.

Steward, an undrafted free agent out of Florida, has appeared in two games for the Bears this season, returning kicks and playing 15 snaps on offense.

Curhan, who is in his third NFL season out of California, appeared in all 17 games for the Bears last season, primarily on special teams.

To make room for these activations, the Bears have waived defensive tackle Angelo Blackson and wide receiver Kevin Shaa and placed offensive lineman Dieter Eiselen on injured reserve.

What does this mean for the Bears?

The activation of Borom is a significant boost for the Bears offensive line, which has struggled to protect quarterback Justin Fields this season. Borom is a talented young tackle who has the potential to be a long-term starter for the Bears.

The elevations of Steward and Curhan provide the Bears with some depth on offense and defense. Steward is a versatile player who can contribute in a variety of ways, while Curhan is a solid run defender who can also provide some pass rush.

What's next for the Bears?

The Bears will host the New York Giants at Soldier Field on Sunday, October 2nd. The game will kickoff at 12:00 p.m. CT and will be televised on FOX.
