California Secretary of State Urges Voters to Cast Ballots as Election Day Approaches
Secretary of State Shirley Weber Encourages Active Participation in Upcoming Election
Deadline for Mailing Ballots is November 8, 2022
California Secretary of State Shirley Weber is reminding voters of the importance of casting their ballots in the upcoming election. With Election Day just around the corner, Weber emphasized the significance of civic engagement and the power of each vote.
According to the California Secretary of State's office, over 22 million ballots have already been mailed to eligible voters in the state. Voters have the option of returning their ballots by mail, dropping them off at designated drop-off locations, or voting in person at polling places on Election Day, November 8, 2022.
For those who choose to mail their ballots, the deadline to ensure timely delivery is November 8, 2022. Ballots must be postmarked by that date to be counted. Voters can track the status of their mailed ballots online through the California Voter Status website.
In addition to the gubernatorial race, California voters will also be deciding on several statewide ballot measures, including Proposition 1, which would establish a constitutional right to reproductive freedom, and Proposition 26, which would allow sports betting on tribal lands.
Weber emphasized that every vote counts, especially in close elections. In the 2020 presidential election, California's margin of victory was less than 60,000 votes out of over 15 million ballots cast.
"I urge all eligible Californians to make their voices heard in this election," said Weber. "Your vote is your voice, and it is essential to shaping the future of our state and our nation."
