Cameron Munster Injury: Storm Fullback Suffers Knee Injury in All Stars Match
Munster to Undergo Scans, Availability for Origin in Doubt
Queensland star Cameron Munster is facing an anxious wait after suffering a knee injury in the All Stars match on Saturday night.
Munster limped off the field in the second half of the Indigenous All Stars' 16-10 win over the Maori All Stars after a tackle from Panthers forward Izack Tago.
The Storm fullback was seen clutching his right knee and was helped from the field by trainers. He did not return to the game.
Munster is set to undergo scans on Sunday to determine the extent of the injury, but the early prognosis is not good.
Storm coach Craig Bellamy said after the match that Munster was "in a lot of pain" and that he was "not confident" that he would be fit for the State of Origin series opener on June 8.
"He's got a bit of swelling there and he's in a lot of pain," Bellamy said.
"I'm not confident at all [that he'll be fit for Origin]. We'll just have to wait and see what the scans say."
Munster's injury is a major blow for the Storm, who are already without Jahrome Hughes (knee) and Ryan Papenhuyzen (concussion).
It is also a major concern for Queensland, who are already without Kalyn Ponga (shoulder) and AJ Brimson (knee).
If Munster is ruled out of Origin, it will be a huge loss for the Maroons.
Munster is one of Queensland's most experienced players and is a key part of their attacking structure.
He has played 19 Origin games for Queensland and has scored 10 tries.
The Maroons will be hoping that Munster's injury is not as serious as first feared and that he will be fit to play in the Origin series opener.
