The Chicago Bears have placed starting right tackle Teven Jenkins on injured reserve, the team announced Monday. Jenkins suffered a back injury in the Bears’ Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Jenkins has started 10 games for Bears since being drafted in second round of 2021 NFL Draft
Jenkins, a second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, has started 10 games for the Bears since being drafted. He started all 16 games at right tackle as a rookie last season.
The Bears are expected to start Larry Borom at right tackle in Jenkins’ absence. Borom started 10 games at right tackle last season.
Bears also placed offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood on injured reserve
The Bears also placed offensive lineman Alex Leatherwood on injured reserve Monday. Leatherwood, a first-round pick by the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021, was acquired by the Bears in a trade this offseason.
Leatherwood is expected to miss at least four games with a calf injury.
Bears face Arizona Cardinals in Week 2
The Bears will face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2 on Sunday, Sept. 18. The Cardinals are coming off a 44-21 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1.
The Cardinals are expected to be without starting offensive lineman Justin Pugh, who is dealing with a knee injury.
