Los Angeles Dodgers Legend Fernando Valenzuela has been in the hospital with Covid-19 but has since been released

Los Angeles Dodgers legend and World Series champion Fernando Valenzuela has been released from the hospital after battling Covid-19.

The 60-year-old Valenzuela was admitted to the hospital on July 21 after testing positive for the virus. He was released on July 27 after his condition improved.

Valenzuela, who pitched for the Dodgers from 1980 to 1990, is considered one of the greatest pitchers in franchise history. He won the NL Rookie of the Year Award in 1981 and was a six-time All-Star.

Valenzuela was a key member of the Dodgers' 1981 World Series championship team. He pitched a complete game shutout in Game 5 of the World Series against the New York Yankees.

After his playing career, Valenzuela worked as a coach and broadcaster for the Dodgers. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2014.

The Dodgers released a statement on Valenzuela's release from the hospital, saying that they are "thrilled" to have him back home.

"Fernando is a true Dodger legend and we are so grateful that he is doing well," the statement said. "We wish him all the best in his continued recovery."

Valenzuela's release from the hospital is a reminder that even those who are fully vaccinated can still get Covid-19. It is important to continue to take precautions to protect yourself and others from the virus.
