Filmmaker Guruprasad found dead in decomposed state

Kochi, October 28

Noted Kannada filmmaker Guruprasad H S, whose directorial debut "Dweepa" won the National Award for Best Film in 2003, was found dead in a decomposed state at his residence in Bengaluru on Friday, police said

Police said the body was found after neighbours complained of a foul smell emanating from his apartment. The body, which was in a highly decomposed state, is being sent for post-mortem

No suicide note found

Police said no suicide note has been found and the cause of death is yet to be ascertained. Police are investigating the case

Married to noted actress

Guruprasad was married to noted Kannada actress Sharmila Mandre. She was not at home when the body was found

Directorial debut won national award

Guruprasad made his directorial debut with "Dweepa" in 2002. The film won the National Award for Best Film in 2003. He also directed films like "Eddelu Manjunatha", "Mathe Mungaru" and "Shishira"
