Flacco fails to jolt Colts but still QB1 'right now'
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Joe Flacco failed to impress in the team's 23-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, but head coach Frank Reich said after the game that Flacco remains the team's starting quarterback.
Flacco completed just 22 of 43 passes for 186 yards with an touchdown and an interception, and was sacked four times. The Colts offense struggled to move the ball consistently, and Flacco was often under pressure from the Jaguars defense.
Despite Flacco's struggles, Reich said he is not considering making a change at quarterback.
"Joe is our starting quarterback," Reich said. "We have a lot of confidence in him." Reich said he believes Flacco will improve as he gets more comfortable with the Colts' offense.
"He's a smart guy, he's a veteran quarterback," Reich said. "He's going to get better and better each week."
Flacco said he is not worried about his performance against the Jaguars.
"I'm just going to keep working hard and try to get better," Flacco said. "I know I can play better than I did today."
The Colts will face the Tennessee Titans on Sunday in their home opener.
