Football Recap: Wayne's Run of Seven Straight Victories Now Over

The Cougars game against the Milan Big Reds was the clash of a juggernaut and a team looking for a turn around. As many know, Wayne comes into most games as the most feared team. The Big Reds come into games with an 0-5 record with 3 shutouts. While Milan proved to put up a fight, the Cougars still came out on top. With a strong offense and defense, Wayne took the win 45-20.
Wayne (7-0, 4-0) raced to a 45-7 lead, then allowed 13 unanswered points to the host Big Reds in the waning minutes of their game in Milan, which was played in steady rain. The Big Reds scored two 4-yard TDs in the final 3:15.
Milan (0-6, 0-4) was held to 36 yards total offense in the first half and fell behind 38-0 at the break. Senior fullback Ethan Locklear rushed 19 times for 105 yards and one TD for the Big Reds, and junior QB Kyler Kehrer scored on a 4-yard run in the final minute.
Wayne's season so far
Wayne has had a legendary season winning each game with large point differentials. They started their season with a 40-0 win over Lincoln Park. Then they won by a score of 34-0 over Woodhaven in week 2. The defense has been the talk of the state and has even put up two shut outs this season. Week three was one of the closest games as they won 28-21 over Southgate Anderson. Coming into week 4, the Cougars had their first blow out game and beat Wyandotte Roosevelt 49-0. Week 5 showed similar results and they beat Trenton 35-0. Coming into this week at 6-0, many believe Wayne is a favorite to make a run in the playoffs.

Wayne will face off next week against the Allen Park Inter-City Jags. Coming into the game, Inter-City is 3-3 on the season. The Jags are looking to turn their season around after dropping 3 of their last 4 games. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm at Allen Park High School.
