Francesco Merloni was born on 28th August 1925 in Fabriano, Italy. His father, Aristide Merloni, was a blacksmith and inventor who founded the Merloni Elettrodomestici company in 1930. Merloni showed an early interest in engineering and mechanics, and he attended the Technical Institute "E. Divincenzo" in Fabriano.

Career and Achievements

After graduating, Merloni joined his father's company and quickly rose through the ranks. In 1956, he became the managing director of Merloni Elettrodomestici, and under his leadership, the company grew rapidly. Merloni was responsible for introducing several innovative products and technologies, including the first Italian electric water heater and the first Italian washing machine.

In 1975, Merloni Elettrodomestici merged with another Italian appliance manufacturer, Indesit. Merloni became the CEO of the merged company, which was renamed Indesit Company. Under Merloni's leadership, Indesit Company became one of the largest appliance manufacturers in Europe.

Merloni's Legacy

Merloni was a visionary leader who helped to revolutionize the appliance industry. He was responsible for introducing several innovative products and technologies, and he helped to make Italy a global leader in the appliance sector. Merloni was also a generous philanthropist who supported several charitable causes.

Merloni died on 17th June 2016 at the age of 90. He is survived by his wife, Nives, and his three children, Aristide, Antonio, and Andrea. Merloni's legacy lives on through his company, which continues to be a leading manufacturer of appliances worldwide.
