Kaufman Lions roar to victory over Greenville Lions
Kaufman Lions defeated the Greenville Lions 42-21 in a thrilling homecoming game on Friday night. The Lions were led by senior running back John Smith, who rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Jack Jones also had a solid performance, completing 10 of 15 passes for 120 yards and a touchdown.The Lions took an early lead in the game, scoring a touchdown on their first drive. Greenville responded with a touchdown of their own, but Kaufman regained the lead with a field goal in the second quarter.
Kaufman extended their lead to 21-7 in the third quarter with a touchdown pass from Jones to wide receiver Michael Brown. Greenville scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter, but Kaufman answered back with two more touchdowns of their own to seal the victory.
The Lions' defense played a key role in the win, holding Greenville to just 21 points. Linebacker Chris Davis led the defense with 10 tackles, including two for a loss. Defensive end James Williams also had a strong performance, recording two sacks.
The Lions' victory was a big win for the team, as it was their first win of the season. The Lions will look to continue their winning ways next week when they host the Mesquite Skeeters.
