Mitch Morse Traded to the Philadelphia Eagles for Ugo Amadi

The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded center Mitch Morse to the Philadelphia Eagles for safety Ugo Amadi, the team announced Tuesday.

Morse, 30, has been a key part of the Jaguars' offensive line since they drafted him in the second round out of Missouri in 2015. A two-time Pro Bowl selection and a two-time All-Pro selection, Morse is one of the most respected centers in the NFL.

However, Morse has also been plagued by injuries in recent years, missing 11 games over the past three seasons. He suffered a concussion in 2020 that forced him to miss the final four games of the season, and he was placed on injured reserve with a foot injury in 2021.

The Jaguars are hoping that Amadi, 25, can provide a spark to their defense. The former fourth-round pick out of Oregon has 11 interceptions in three seasons with the Eagles.

The Jaguars have been looking to upgrade their safety position after trading away All-Pro safety Ronnie Harrison to the Cleveland Browns in 2021. Amadi is a versatile player who can play both free safety and strong safety.

The Eagles are getting a proven center in Morse, who has been one of the most consistent players in the NFL when healthy. The Eagles lost C Jason Kelce to retirement this offseason and have a big hole to fill at center.

The trade is a win-win for both teams. The Jaguars get a young, talented safety in Amadi, while the Eagles get a proven center in Morse.
