NFL Week 2: Joe Flacco Leads Jets Upset of NFC North Leading Vikings
Flacco's First Jets Start a Success
Joe Flacco, 37, got his first start of the 2022 season and led the New York Jets to a 24-16 upset of the Vikings in a nationally televised Sunday Night Football game on NBC.
Flacco completed 23 of 33 passes for 228 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also ran the ball twice for 12 yards.
Vikings Fall to 1-1
The Vikings, who entered the game as 6-point favorites, fell to 1-1 on the season. Kirk Cousins passed for 277 yards and a touchdown, but he also threw two interceptions.
Dalvin Cook rushed for 77 yards on 20 carries, but he was held out of the end zone.
Jets Defense Dominates
The Jets defense was dominant in the game, holding the Vikings to just 16 points. They also forced three turnovers, including two interceptions.
C.J. Mosley led the Jets defense with 10 tackles, including two tackles for loss. Quinnen Williams added two sacks.
Flacco's Redemption
Flacco's performance was a redemption of sorts for the veteran quarterback. He was released by the Broncos in August after losing the starting job to Drew Lock.
Flacco signed with the Jets in September and was named the starter for Week 2 after Zach Wilson suffered a knee injury.
What's Next?
The Jets will travel to Cleveland to face the Browns in Week 3. The Vikings will host the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3.
