Ohio sheriff's lieutenant says he 'will not help' Harris supporters who need assistance
Lt. Pat Kelly of Medina County Sheriff's Office endorses Trump, slams Joe Biden
A Medina County, Ohio, sheriff's lieutenant posted a message on Facebook saying he "will not help" supporters of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris if they need assistance.
Lt. Pat Kelly, who is assigned to the Medina County Sheriff's Office road patrol division, made the post on his personal Facebook page on Monday night.
"I will not help any Harris supporters if they need assistance. I will laugh in your face, and watch you struggle," Kelly wrote in the post.
Kelly's post has since been deleted, but a screenshot of it was obtained by the Medina Gazette.
Kelly has endorsed President Donald Trump for re-election and has made several posts on social media critical of Biden.
In a statement, Medina County Sheriff Terry Grice said he was aware of Kelly's post and that it "does not reflect the values of the Medina County Sheriff's Office."
"The Medina County Sheriff's Office is committed to serving all citizens of Medina County equally, regardless of their political beliefs," Grice said.
Kelly has not responded to requests for comment.
Kelly's post has been met with criticism from some quarters, with some people calling for him to be fired.
However, others have defended Kelly's right to free speech, arguing that he is entitled to his own political opinions.
The Medina County Sheriff's Office is investigating the matter.
