Rams trade Greg Gaines to Jets for 2023 sixth-round pick

Gaines had 26 combined tackles and 1.5 sacks in 2022

The Los Angeles Rams have traded defensive tackle Greg Gaines to the New York Jets for a 2023 sixth-round pick, the team announced Tuesday. The Rams also announced that they have claimed running back Ronnie Rivers off waivers from the Tennessee Titans.

Gaines, 26, has started 27 games in four seasons with the Rams, who drafted him in the fourth round in 2019. He had 26 combined tackles and 1.5 sacks in 2022.

Rivers, 24, rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries in 2022. He also caught 12 passes for 61 yards.

The Rams are currently 5-11 and are in last place in the NFC West. The Jets are 7-9 and are in contention for a wild-card spot in the AFC.
