Vikings Defense Shines in Victory
The Minnesota Vikings improved to 5-1 on the season with a 21-13 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. The Vikings' defense was the story of the game, as they held the Colts to just 13 points and forced four turnovers.
The Vikings got on the board first with a field goal in the first quarter. They extended their lead to 10-0 in the second quarter on a touchdown pass from Kirk Cousins to Justin Jefferson. The Colts got on the board with a field goal of their own before halftime, but the Vikings took a 10-3 lead into the break.
The Vikings added to their lead in the third quarter with a touchdown run from Dalvin Cook. The Colts responded with a touchdown pass from Matt Ryan to Michael Pittman Jr., but the Vikings held on for the 21-13 victory.
Cousins Leads Vikings Offense
Kirk Cousins had a solid performance for the Vikings, completing 24 of 35 passes for 221 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 20 yards on four carries.
Justin Jefferson was Cousins' favorite target, catching seven passes for 75 yards and a touchdown. Dalvin Cook also had a good game, rushing for 75 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries.
Colts Offense Struggles
The Colts' offense struggled to get anything going against the Vikings' defense. Matt Ryan was sacked four times and threw two interceptions.
Michael Pittman Jr. was the Colts' leading receiver, catching seven passes for 61 yards and a touchdown. Jonathan Taylor was held to just 54 yards on 15 carries.
Vikings Defense Dominates
The Vikings' defense was the story of the game. They held the Colts to just 13 points and forced four turnovers.
Eric Kendricks led the Vikings with 12 tackles, including two sacks. Harrison Smith and Patrick Peterson each had an interception.

With the win, the Vikings improved to 5-1 on the season. They are now in first place in the NFC North.
The Colts fell to 3-2-1 on the season. They are now in second place in the AFC South.
