VVS Laxman to Coach India in South Africa Series
VVS Laxman, the former India batsman, is set to be appointed as the coach of the Indian cricket team for the upcoming tour of South Africa, according to reports.
Laxman, who is currently the head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA), will take over the reins from Rahul Dravid, who will be on a break after the recently concluded tour of Bangladesh.
The report comes after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to split the coaching roles for Tests and limited-overs formats, with Dravid continuing to coach the team in the latter.
Laxman, who played 134 Tests and 86 One-Day Internationals for India, has been widely praised for his work at the NCA, where he has overseen the development of some of the country's most promising young players.
If appointed, Laxman will be tasked with leading India in a three-Test series against South Africa, which is scheduled to begin on December 26.
The series will be a tough test for Laxman, as South Africa are one of the strongest teams in the world, but he will be confident of success, given his experience and knowledge of the game.
Laxman's appointment is a sign of the BCCI's faith in his abilities, and he will be hoping to repay that faith by leading India to success in South Africa.
