NYC Marathon 2024: Updates on Registration, Course, and Elite Runners
Registration Details
Registration for the 2024 New York City Marathon will open on January 11, 2023, at 12 pm EST. The entry fee is $295 for US runners and $358 for international runners.
There are several ways to qualify for the marathon. Runners can qualify through a time trial, by finishing a marathon in a qualifying time, or by being a member of a running club that is affiliated with the New York Road Runners.
Course Highlights
The 2024 New York City Marathon course will remain largely unchanged from previous years. The race will start in Staten Island and finish in Central Park.
The course will pass through all five boroughs of New York City, including Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Manhattan. The marathon will also pass by some of the city's most iconic landmarks, such as the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, and Times Square.
Elite Runners to Watch
The 2024 New York City Marathon will feature a strong field of elite runners. Some of the top runners to watch include:
- Eliud Kipchoge (Kenya): Kipchoge is the current world record holder in the marathon. He won the 2022 New York City Marathon in a time of 2:08:37.
- Kenenisa Bekele (Ethiopia): Bekele is a two-time Olympic gold medalist in the 10,000 meters. He has also won the Berlin Marathon three times.
- Mo Farah (Great Britain): Farah is a four-time Olympic gold medalist in the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters. He is also a former world champion in the half marathon.
